3 Ring Circus

This is a 1 1/2" stainless steel washer with a sterling silver overlay. It is a piece in my new series, and has all kinds of 'three ring' themes going on. Strung on a rubber cord with a sterling silver lobster clasp, $36.00. This piece is also available on a steel cable($40.00), sterling snake chain($55.00), or steel ball chain($32.00).

Coming up March 13 at The Jerome Artists' Cooperative Gallery: "Three Ring Circus" A featured artist show including the works of Ellen Jo Roberts, Christy Fisher, and me.
In keeping with the theme, I have decided to focus on the 'three ring' aspect of the title, and have been making some pieces that include stainless steel washers.
The circle is such an archetypal symbol, and can represent so many different things, such as the sun, moon, planets, eternity, perfection, wholeness, and many other things. For me the circle represents perfection, wholeness, and a oneness with the Universe. In the piece above, I have intentionally overlaid a silver circle off center, to represent the perfection of imperfection. I believe that everything is as it is meant to be, and trying to attain an idea of "perfection"(circle in the center) is an act of futility. The piece is perfect the way it is. As humans, we all have our imperfections, but are all perfect just the way we are. I do not however, believe that this is an excuse to be a slacker. Doing our very best is perfect in itself, but trying to attain "perfection" is another impossible story, and can drive people to all kinds of destructive behaviors and mental distress. When we realize that life is happening the way it is supposed to, we can focus on the things that really matter to us, and live life in happiness and contentment, rather than getting stuck trying to fulfill some perceived ideas of perfection.
The necklace above is stainless steel and sterling, with recycled glass bead accents. The center circle is 1 1/2", and hangs on a 16" sterling snake chain with a handcrafted clasp. $125.00
The above bracelet is mild steel with 14K and sterling overlays. The rectangles are made from 1/2" flat bar stock, and are about 5/8' long. I have coated the whole bracelet with wax to preserve the finish, and keep the steel from rusting. Approx. 7 3/4" long $275.00
This necklace has forged steel links, and a pendant that's 1 1/4"x 1 1/2" Steel and sterling. $150.00
I like to call this pendant "Live out Loud", as it looks like an exclamation point to me. It is mild steel, stainless steel, and sterling. The circle is an inch in diameter. This piece hangs on a sterling snake chain, but it could also be made on a rubber cord. $90.00
These earrings are forged out of 1/4" round steel stock. I like the way the edges are kind of wavy. With the round stock, I am able to keep the earrings at a wearable weight. The rectangles are about 1/2" x 3/4" and are overlaid with sterling. Also available with a 14K overlay, copper, or a combination.....as shown, $36.00
Yesterday was Valentine's Day, so I was in heart mode there for awhile. This one is about 3/4" square, and hangs on a steel ball chain. I like to include symbolism in my work, and as well as being the Universal symbol of love, the heart is a West African Andinkra symbol for patience and tolerance. I love that! $32.00 on a steel ball chain as shown. Also available on a rubber cord($36.00), steel cable($40.00) or a sterling snake chain($55.00)
